Steps in Time

Through the Renaissance Partnership Initiative, three organisations have been working together to create a contemporary filmed history of the story of dance in Leeds. Leeds Museums, Mojo Media, and the Yorkshire Film Archive have captured the spirit of dance in the city of Leeds in all its many unique and creative forms: the people, the steps, the rhythms. These vibrant, diverse, and insightful films will be part of the opening exhibition at the new Leeds Museum in September 2008, and also preserved at the Yorkshire Film Archive as part of our contemporary collections, for future generations to enjoy and learn from.

Lori the ballet dancer, Bobak the Krumper, Zoobin the Bollywood artist, Alan from Beautiful Octopus and Joan from Hey Days: their unique stories and images will inspire and delight. Come and see them at the new Leeds Museum in September or visit the Steps in Time website to hear and see colourful and inspirational stories from five people who live to dance.
