Back to the 50s

YFA worked with Armley Mills Industrial Museum and an Armley Primary School to produce learning journeys that look at life in the 1950s and the similarities and differences between then and now.

The resources were created through workshops with a year 5 class and include archive film clips, videos of the children interviewing Rene Smith, a local retired weaver who worked at Armley Mills from the age of 14, alongside activities and worksheets.

There are five separate resources on different themes:
